In Short
Fractured Thoughts was developed as part of my master’s thesis research, aiming to explore the potential of interactive digital narratives (IDNs) in addressing anxiety management. The study specifically examined how music influences decision-making and engagement within a therapeutic IDN and its subsequent effects on real-life anxiety reduction. Through a mixed-design experiment with 126 participants, the research tested three different music conditions (influential music, neutral music, and no music) and measured outcomes related to anxiety, decision-making, narrative engagement, and perceived agency.
